The Hundreds is a Los Angeles-based streetwear brand known for its punk aesthetic, inspired by 90s California skate and surf culture. It is currently one of the most acclaimed and sought-after streetwear brands in the fashion world, and yet The Hundreds remains true to its humble roots.
So, If you’re looking for stylish streetwear with an authentic and rich history of colorful, inspired designs, then The Hundreds clothing is for you.
Who Buys The Hundreds?
The Hundreds clothing appeals to people of various ages, genders, and experiences, and that’s because the brand’s apparel simply looks cool. It’s colorful, it’s stylish, and it’s artful. So, even though The Hundred’s design aesthetic originates from 90s California skate and surf culture, you don’t need to be a skater or surfer to appreciate the brand’s quality craftsmanship. In fact, the vast majority of people who buy The Hundreds don’t skate or surf, and have never lived in California (let alone in the 90s).
To many, The Hundreds is admirable for its unique position in the fashion world. It’s a popular streetwear brand that somehow seems niche. It’s designs are called retro, and yet the counterculture-inspired aesthetic seems timeless. The people who buy The Hundreds recognize these seemingly contradictory descriptions as unique characteristics of the brand. Afterall, you won’t find many streetwear brands that combine such disparate elements so consistently that people associate it with their style. This might be The Hundreds main appeal.
Why Buy The Hundreds?
When you buy The Hundreds, you aren’t just buying a stylish piece of clothing, you’re buying an art piece, inspired by a rich history of counter-culture. Sure, your new Hundreds shirt looks nice on the surface, but it’s the context of the shirt’s origin that makes it unique.
The Hundreds clothing rides the line between looking fashionable and chaotic. It’s as if the designers aren’t trying to impress anyone but each other, and yet their passion has led to some of the most admirable designs in street fashion.
Supposedly, the key to being “cool” is to not look like you’re trying too hard, and that’s exactly what The Hundreds achieves. Their designs appear effortless, because there is genuine talent and inspiration behind them.
The Hundreds Clothing
Colorful, retro, innovative, classically cool… These are just several of the terms commonly used to describe The Hundreds aesthetic. Their apparel looks both classic and modern because, while The Hundred’s design sense comes from a previous era of streetwear, it remains stylish today.
The Hundreds aesthetic is timeless, and so is the quality of it’s apparel. 100% cotton and made in the USA, The Hundreds not only looks great, but feels great too. Plus, their apparel is unisex, so if you see a design you like, you won’t need to worry about whether or not it will fit you. The Hundreds clothing is not just for men.
At The Upperroom Boutique, we offer a limited selection of The Hundreds t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and hats, including designs from special collaborations the brand did with famous artists.
The Hundreds t-shirts are their most popular clothing item. As a result of their popularity, you’d think that other brands would have copied their t-shirt designs by now, but there are still no t-shirts in the fashion world like that of The Hundreds.
Glancing at The Hundreds t-shirt collection, it may be hard to spot any stylistic consistencies. However, the sheer diversity of designs - thick and thin stripes, dot patterns, embroidered graphics, etc. - is consistent. More specifically, the unusual pairing of various designs and colors causes The Hundreds t-shirts to appear hand-made by a couple of rebellious teens in their backyard (which is exactly how the brand was started).
The Hundreds sweatshirts share the unique aesthetic of the brand’s t-shirts, but tend to be more minimal in their designs. The sweatshirts are also made from very different materials of course, so their feel is distinct from the t-shirts. Each is made with premium fleece that is uniquely distressed for each design. That’s art…Comfortable art.
Most of The Hundreds sweatshirts are embroidered with logos or text, but some have large and distinct color patterns stretched across their fronts (similar to many of the t-shirt designs). You’ll definitely stand out in public wearing one the brand’s more eccentric pullover hoodies.
The Hundreds jackets come in a variety of materials, from cotton, to Nylon, and satin polyester. As a result, each jacket has a distinct feel which suits their respective designs. There’s not as large a selection as the brand’s t-shirts, but the variety of designs is still impressive.
Where else can you find a leopard printed button-up next to a plaid print nylon hoodie and a bright white retro sports jacket? And somehow it all makes sense under “The Hundreds” label.
The Hundreds hats are more traditionally designed compared to the brand’s other apparel, but still unique, and go well with their shirts and jackets.
Generally speaking, the hats are a solid color from top to brim and include a front-facing logo. There are a few exceptions, for which the color of the bill is different from the rest of the hat, or the logo appears like polka dots across the top of the hat. But overall, The Hundreds hats are not exciting on their own. We recommend pairing them with a shirt or jacket.
